matéria leve is a collective research and training platform in stage lighting, directed by Leticia Skrycky, in collaboration with Carolina Campos, and managed by Joana Cardoso.

matéria leve (Portuguese for light matter) fosters ongoing research and collaboration, seeking to strengthen support networks within the lighting sector. The platform promotes professional development through a sensitive and critical approach to artistic creation.

We also aim to provide a space for reflection on working conditions and gender equity in the technical areas of the performing arts. Most of the activities we organize are dedicated to cis women, trans, and non-binary people, and are free of charge.

matéria leve also develops a space for research in lighting design and for encounters among professionals. From Lisbon, Portugal, the project has been building an online database and establishing partnerships with local institutions such as Alkantara, Teatro do Bairro Alto, and O Espaço do Tempo, among others, as well as international collaborations with Graner (Barcelona, Spain) and the Reflecting Light project hosted by Kunstencentrum BUDA (Kortrijk, Belgium), with whom it continues to develop opportunities for mobility and exchange between artists.
